Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2019, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. About the California 5 Goldback
The California 5 Goldback portrays Abundantia, the personification of abundance. She stands among the rolling vineyards of Sonoma Valley, California, holding clusters of ripe grapes. Beside her is the state bird, the California quail, while the UV layer reveals a ladybug as a symbol of good luck. The Mission San Francisco Solano stands in the distance, the last and northernmost of California's twenty-one missions.
