Veritas is based on Roman culture. In Roman mythology, Veritas was the goddess of truth. Veritas was also used as the name of a primary Roman virtue of truthfulness. It was considered one of the highest virtues any good Roman should aspire to possess.
On the reverse of these Goldback Gold Notes, you’ll find the mirror image of the obverse design. This results from the production process that puts the design on the obverse of the thin gold notes.
