The Kookaburra coin’s popularity will help launch the Australian Silver Koala series in 2007, and more recently the Australian Silver Kangaroo series in 2016. The Kookaburra is a fixture of the Australian Outback, and is the largest member of the kingfisher species of bird.
Each 2016 1 oz Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin in this product listing is a high-relief coin, indicating 3D visuals that make the Kookaburra seems as though it’s going to fly off the coin’s surface. The Perth Mint will release only 8,000 of the 10,000 maximum mintage in the special presentation packaging with numbered Certificates of Authenticity.
On the reverse face of the coin you’ll find the 2016 Kookaburra design, which features a lone member of the species perched atop a fence post. Engravings identify the coin series, year of issue, weight, purity, and metal content of the coin.
The obverse of the 2016 1 oz Proof Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin includes Queen Elizabeth II’s right-profile portrait from Ian Rank-Broadley. This face bears the engravings of “Elizabeth II,” “Australia,” and “1 Dollar.”
