The new Medieval Legends Series of silver for sale is now available with its third design. This custom image of Lady Godiva from English history and folklore is available on 1 oz silver rounds as the follow-up design to the previous release of the Pied Piper.
Round Highlights:
Lady Godiva is a well-known figure who bridges the gap between documented history and English folklore. Unlike previous figures in the series whose historical existence is heavily debated, Lady Godiva was a real 11th-century noblewoman and the wife of Leofric, the Earl of Mercia. She is most famously remembered in folklore for her legendary protest against oppressive taxes imposed by her husband. According to the tale, she agreed to ride through the center of Coventry completely naked to convince her husband to lift the heavy financial burden from the townspeople.
The obverse of the 1 oz Medieval Legends Lady Godiva Silver Round features an elegant depiction of the famous noblewoman on horseback. She is shown riding sidesaddle through the Coventry town square without any clothing. The design strategically uses her long, flowing hair as her only cover, beautifully capturing the dramatic and daring moment of her historic protest.
On the reverse of the Medieval Legends Lady Godiva Silver Round is the common design element featured across all releases in this collection. The setting showcases a detailed table inside a medieval castle room facing a stained-glass window. Scattered across this table are the unique relics belonging to each of the legendary figures celebrated throughout the series.
