This China Black Warrior of the North Platinum Proof contains one ounce of .999 pure platinum. The obverse depicts the China Great Wall. The reverse side features a ferocious Chines Black Warrior - a complex beast the features an angry serpent curled around a snake-headed tortoise wrapping around the Cash Hole, and a compass.
This Proof also honors the history of “vault protector” coins, which have been hung throughout China's history in treasury spirit halls and private vaults to guard against evil and bring fortune, prosperity, and wealth.
Signed by Song Fei, Coin Designer. Graded by NGC as a PF 70 Ultra Cameo.
Medal Highlights:
The Tortoise, or Black Warrior, represents the North, Winter, the color black, and water. It gained the name “Warrior” for its natural “armor” that it wears upon its back.
The Black Warrior was known for divination. As the tortoise’s shell is black, it is able to enter the realm of the dead to seek information about the future, and then return with signs that would foretell what was to come.
As an incredibly long-lived animal, it also represents longevity. Using its long life to constantly listen in on the workings of the world, the Black Warrior represents wisdom, and is said to be completely versed in Buddha’s teachings, and after 1,000 years is able to speak the language of humans.
