The Royal Mint’s second release of a James Bond-themed coin in 2020 continues the celebration of the James Bond character. Bond was introduced to the world in 1953 by British author Ian Fleming. Less than a decade later, Bond came to the big screen in 1962 with the release of DR. NO. Now, the 25th James Bond feature film is set for release with Daniel Craig reprising his role as James Bond for the fifth time.
On the obverse side of 2020 2 oz Proof British Pay Attention 007 Silver Coins is an image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty features here in the fifth-generation bust for British coins designed by Jody Clark in 2015. The Queen wears the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head, a piece from the Crown Jewels that was commissioned in 1820 by King George IV during the first year of his reign.
The reverse face of the 2020 Proof British Pay Attention 007 Silver Coins comes with a depiction of the Wet Nellie. Designed by Matt Dent and Christian Davies, the image shows a Lotus Esprit that was radically transformed for Bond to use in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME in 1977. This particular depiction of the Lotus Esprit was modified to work underwater as a submarine. The design field does its best to capture the image of the Lotus as suspended in water with bubbles evident and the car pitched at an angle.
