The SS Republic’s final voyage began on October 18, 1865. She departed New York bound for New Orleans with a reported $400,000 in gold and silver coins. But on October 23, the vessel was laid to rest in the murky depths of the deep blue sea, sunken into its watery grave.

That is until it was finally rediscovered in 2003, with its treasure incredibly preserved after almost 140 years. The cargo contained thousands of gold and silver coins estimated at being worth today as much as $180 million. Now is your chance to own a real piece of shipwreck treasure - a spectacular Seated Liberty Half Dollar struck at the New Orleans Mint! This coin has also been certified by NGC as an official “Shipwreck Effect” coin from the wreck of the SS Republic. These shipwrecked Civil War era Seated Liberty Half dollars are mixed dates and were struck in 90% silver, making them even more incredible collectors' pieces. This is an incredible treasure of American history, add it to your collection today!

Customer Reviews

"Amazing service and hospitality from the staff at IDC! Jason was so attentive and patient in our search for our ideal watches. He took us through several options, had us try every watch we were interested in, took our information and continued searching for options. A few hours later, we had our watches on hold and ready for pick up! He located a watch that I LOVE, and a unique piece for my husband. We are grateful to have found our new Jeweler for many pieces to come!"
