In the account of Jacob as he wrestles an angel, it is said he spent a night alone on a river’s edge and is set upon by a figure translated as a “man,” but generally interpreted to be either an angel of God himself. During the course of the battle, Jacob is struck numerous times and continually asks the man’s name, with no answer given.
The Biblical Coin Series from the Scottsdale Mint is a beautiful collection that features six annual design releases. Each new release depicts one of Gustave Dore’s biblical artworks from the late-18th century on a high-relief, rimless blank with laser-engraved edge-lettering bearing each coin’s serial number in its design release from 1 to 1,499.

While Jacob appears pushed to the brink physically, the angel shows little sign of physical exhaustion in the fight.
The obverse of each Biblical Silver Coin in this collection includes Raphael Maklouf’s third-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has appeared on the obverse of British and commonwealth coinage since her ascension to the throne in 1952, and this particular effigy from Maklouf was in circulation from 1984 until 1997.
