American Gold Eagle Coins debuted in 1986 with five options available. In addition to the 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle Coin, the US Mint offered BU American Gold Eagle Coins in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. These four coins are the only ones that have been available each year since 1986.
All of these 2023 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are Mint State 70 specimens according to the NGC. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster and feature no contact marks, blemishes, breaks in the luster, hairlines, or other detracting flaws. Early Release coins are those received by the NGC within 30 days of issue by the mint.
On the obverse of 2023 American Gold Eagle Coin, you will find the front-facing effigy of Lady Liberty. This full-length relief shows Liberty walking toward the viewer with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.
The reverse side of the 2023 1/4 oz Gold Eagles comes with a depiction of the American bald eagle. In this design from Jennie Norris, the head of the bald eagle is shown in left-profile relief with exceptional detail in its plumage and physical features.
