The Goldback Series began in 2019 with the introduction of the Utah Goldback. Utah was selected for the first release because it became the first state in the nation to recognize gold and silver as legal tender under the 2011 Utah Legal Tender Act. This established the Utah Goldback within a broader precious metals monetary tradition. With Goldbacks continuing to attract interest, redesigned Utah Goldbacks are arriving in 2026. The updated series offers refreshed artwork across the original denominations while also expanding the collection with denominations that were not available at launch.

Please note, bundle packs do not include individual sleeves. The Utah Goldback is undergoing a refresh in 2026, with new denominations added to the collection and new designs for each of the existing denominations.

In the design of the 1 Utah Goldback Gold Note, a Ute woman sits peacefully amidst nature with an eagle soaring overhead as a mountain lion sits vigilantly by her side. The Ute people’s relationship with their traditional homeland is grounded in a spiritual and ecological understanding of the land as a living, sacred entity rather than a resource to be exploited. Their traditional practices of hunting, gathering, and seasonal migration are shaped by a profound respect for the natural cycles and the needs of every species sharing the landscape they call home.
