One of the most popular coin designs is the Indian Head design that was featured on the penny from 1858 to 1909. This design has now been created by SilverTowne for issues on their latest copper rounds.
Round Highlights:
The Indian Head Cent was introduced in 1858. The reverse design was altered in 1859 and it remained the same until 1909. The original coin was designed by James B. Longacre who was the Chief Engraver at the US Mint at the time. Following this design, came the depiction of President Abraham Lincoln that we use on the penny today.
The obverse side of the 1 oz Indian Head Penny Copper Round features the portrait of Liberty. Liberty is seen in left-profile relief with a feathered headdress. This design is based on the original image from James B. Longacre. A random date mark from the Indian Head Penny era will be seen on the bottom.
The reverse field states one cent.
