The 2020 2oz Silver Shield Crucible .999 Silver Round combines bold symbolism with high-quality bullion craftsmanship. Struck by Golden State Mint (GSM) in 2 troy ounces of .999 fine silver, this Brilliant Uncirculated round belongs to the well-known Silver Shield collection—a series famous for its thought-provoking, often provocative designs.
Designed to show a dynamic Argyraspides warrior using his silver shield to block the incoming flames in today's potentially confusing financial world.
About Golden State Mint & the Silver Shield Series
Golden State Mint (GSM) is a private mint known for producing bullion and collectible rounds with clean strikes, clear specifications, and a strong following among stackers. Their products are typically made in the United States and offered in a variety of themes and metals.
The Silver Shield line, in particular, has gained attention for:
- Designs that challenge conventional narratives
- Symbolism relating to freedom, sound money, and personal sovereignty
- Limited-run designs that appeal to collectors as much as bullion buyers
The 2020 Crucible Silver Shield fits squarely within that philosophy, blending social commentary with classic bullion fundamentals—weight, purity, and recognizable branding.
Obverse Design – A dynamic Argyraspides warrior using his silver shield to block the incoming flames
The visual effect is simultaneously familiar and subversive, which is a hallmark of the Silver Shield style.
Reverse Design – Silver Shield Sword & Flames
The reverse showcases a “new and improved” Silver Shield reverse design used for the collection. At the center stands a sword, a classic symbol of strength and defense. Around it, flames circle near the outer rim, adding energy and intensity to the image. Along the rim, inscriptions read:
This side serves as the series identity and assures buyers of the round’s metal content and authenticity.

Customer Reviews
"Amazing service and hospitality from the staff at IDC! Jason was so attentive and patient in our search for our ideal watches. He took us through several options, had us try every watch we were interested in, took our information and continued searching for options. A few hours later, we had our watches on hold and ready for pick up! He located a watch that I LOVE, and a unique piece for my husband. We are grateful to have found our new Jeweler for many pieces to come!"
