One of the most iconic fighting game franchises in history, Street Fighter is the subject of the Perth Mint’s team effort with LPM as part of an extraordinary run of commemorative coins.
Coin Highlights:
Chun-Li is one of the Street Fighter franchise’s most recognized fighters and its main female protagonist, in fact the first female fighter to appear in the series. She’s known equally for her lightning-speed kicks and her resourceful and dedicated character, and the evolution of her story and design is crucial in many ways to the story of Street Fighter’s evolution as a whole: her greatest enemy and the major antagonist of the franchise, M. Bison, evolved along with her.
The coin’s obverse side features a classic profile portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II, an image originally designed by Ian Rank-Broadley that appears on circulation coinage from Commonwealth countries around the world. It’s accompanied by the inscriptions “Queen Elizabeth II,” “1 oz 9999 Ag,” “2022” and “Tuvalu Dollar.”
The reverse features an image of Chun-Li in action, in the middle of aiming a kick toward the viewer and wearing her classic outfit: an antique-style QIPAO dress and ox-horns hairstyle. It’s joined by the inscription “Chun-Li” and a Capcom copyright.
