Introduced in December 2013, Dogecoin was created by two software engineers: Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. The Japanese working breed accidentally became the symbol for Dogecoin due to the joke that started the crypto currency in the first place. The developers of Dogecoin found the “Doge” memes circling the web in 2013 hilarious and developed Dogecoin as a joke based upon this. The dog often featured in the Doge memes was a Shiba Inu, making it the perfect fit as the logo for Dogecoin.
The reverse face of the 1 oz Dogecoin Silver Round comes with an image featured on countless crypto-currency-themed releases since 2011. The design element was first created for the original Bitcoin silver round release and has since been used on various other issues of crypto currency rounds. The circuit-styled design includes a date mark identifying these Dogecoin Silver Rounds with a “2021” date mark.
