Containing a significant amount of pure Silver, this 100 ounce Johnson Matthey Silver bar is one of Johnson Matthey’s premium products. Moreover, these products are running out of supply due to the fact that Johnson Matthey’s refining business was sold to Asahi Holdings in early 2015.
Johnson Matthey Refining was known to make high-quality precious metal products with astonishing craftsmanship and attention to detail since the 1850s. The name ‘Johnson Matthey’ is alone a factor for higher premium prices over spot compared to other products of similar weight. However, considering the fact that they have been in business for over 150 years, the trust that people place in its products is unquestionable as well as understandable.
Each of these one hundred ounce Johnson Matthey Silver bars contains 100 troy ounces of pure 0.999 Silver. Additionally, these silver bars are cast into shape, i.e. molten Silver is poured into molds and allowed to cool. This process results in silver bars that have a rustic appearance and a slightly tarnished surface, reminiscent of antique products that some people prefer compared to the smooth finish of mint bars.
