Australia’s first .9999 pure silver coins came from the 2016 Australian Silver Kangaroo. The coin program was the first to offer such pure silver content and was the only coin from the Perth Mint with this purity in a silver bullion investment coin. It wasn’t until 2018 that other major coins, the Silver Kookaburra and Silver Koala, gained this purity level. Each 2021 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Coin is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are packaged by the Perth Mint in multiples with 25 coins per acrylic tube and multiples of 250 coins in mini-Monster Boxes that contain a total of 10 acrylic tubes. Individual coins will ship in protective plastic flips.
The Australian Silver Kangaroo coin has long been available from the Perth Mint, but was originally issued as a proof coin with .999 pure silver content. In 2016, the series was elevated to the position of an investment-grade bullion coin like the Kookaburra and Koala that preceded it. Subsequent coins introduced since the 2016 debut of the Silver Kangaroo, like the Emu, now also feature .9999 pure silver content.
The obverse side of 2021 1 oz Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins includes a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This sixth-generation bust of the Queen is the first on an Australian coin since 1966 to feature the Queen’s neckline and shoulders in the portrait. Created by Jody Clark in 2015 for the Royal Mint of England, the image shows the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
On the reverse face of 2021 Australian Silver Kangaroo Coins is a depiction of the red kangaroo, one of the four subspecies of the marsupial living on the Australian continent. This design is static on the reverse side of the coins and does not change each year. This sets the Silver Kangaroo apart from its counterparts in the Silver Kookaburra, Silver Koala, Silver Wedge Tail Eagle, and Silver Emu collections.
