The EC8 coin program has featured four years of coins with eight designs each from the Scottsdale Mint. Each design represents one of the eight island nations of the Eastern Caribbean, including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. All coins are legal tenders of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, and each of their designated coins features rich designs and low mintages.
The obverse showcases the powerful British monarch and historical icon, Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait profile was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998 and has been featured on many coins worldwide, including mints in Australia, New Zealand, and Britain. The obverse of the 2021 coin also includes the weight, purity, and value of the coin, as well as two inscriptions: EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK and QUEEN ELIZABETH II.
The reverse design depicts a wrecked galleon on the seabed which highlights how most of the popular dive sites in the area now are from both historical and modern shipwrecks. You will catch two gorgeous dolphins swimming around the haunting ship in a melodic dance while heading towards the surface of the Caribbean sea.
