Each of the 2018 2 oz John the Baptist Biblical Silver Coins available to you in this product listing comes from the Scottsdale Mint with a truly unique display box. The bible-themed storybook holds a singular coin within that has its individual serial number engraved on the outer rim and includes a Certificate of Authenticity that matches the serial number.
The coins in the Biblical Silver Coin Series are all struck on 2 oz silver blanks which are rimless, a feature that makes them similar in appearance to ancient coinage. Enhancing that visual appeal is the application of an antique polish. Finally, each coin is made even more beautiful with a high-relief strike that gives greater 3D prominence to the elements on the obverse and reverse sides of the coin.
On the reverse of the 2018 2 oz John the Baptist Biblical Silver Coin is an image taken from the Christian bible verses contained within the gospel of Matthew. From chapter 14, verses 8-1, a girl requests the head of John the Baptist on a platter. At this point, John is held in a prison cell and the guards behead him and deliver his head on a tray to the girl, who brings it to her mother.
The obverse face of all 2018 2 oz Biblical Silver Coins features the third-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Used on British coinage from 1985 to 1997, this design was created by Raphael Maklouf and is viewed as one of the most elegant designs of Her Majesty.
