A prophecy from chapter 37 in the Book of Ezekiel tells of vision revealed to the prophet Ezekiel. It conveys a dream-like realistic depiction of himself standing in a valley surrounded by dry human bones, in this horrifying environment he is directly to carry a prophecy.
As he makes his way through the piles of bones, they connect into human figures and are eventually covered with tendon tissues, flesh, and then skin. God reveals to him that these are the bones of the People of Israel in exile, giving Ezekiel another command to revitalize the figures and resurrect the people to deliver them to the Land of Israel.

On the reverse of the Ezekiel’s Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones Silver Coin you’ll find the image laid bare before Ezekiel from God, as designed by Gustave Dore. His illustrations of the Bible were completed in 1866 and became one of his greatest collections of works.
The obverse of the 2016 2 oz Ezekiel’s Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones Silver Coin includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was created in 1984 by Jerusalem-born Raphael Maklouf. This is the third-generation depiction of Queen Elizabeth II on commonwealth coinage and was on coins from 1984 to 1997.
