Each 1 Hades Silverback Silver Note is available with a plastic currency sleeve. These new Silverbacks represent the smallest fractional-silver product on the market, with just 1/1000 troy ounce of pure silver. The Hades release is the first in the new Legends of Olympus Series, celebrating the Olympians of Greek mythology.
Though often excluded from lists of the twelve Olympians due to his residence in the underworld, Hades was nonetheless one of the three most powerful Greek gods, having helped overthrow the Titans alongside his brothers Zeus and Poseidon. Unlike the popular modern portrayal of him as a villain, Hades was actually one of the more just and impartial deities—stern but fair, rarely leaving his domain and seldom interfering in mortal affairs.
In the primary design of the Hades Silverback Silver Note, you’ll find an imposing image of Hades holding the leash to Cerberus as he guards over his realm. The underworld itself, also called Hades after its ruler, was imagined as a vast subterranean kingdom where all mortal souls journeyed after death, regardless of virtue. Cerberus, the monstrous three-headed hound, served as the terrifying guardian of the underworld’s entrance, ensuring that the dead entered but never left.
