Known as the Three Wise Men, or the Three Kings or Magi, these individuals are mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew as distinguished foreigners traveling from the east who visit Jesus shortly after his birth. They arrive bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the child they believe to be the “king of the Jews.” The Wise Men follow a bright star in the sky overhead to their destination in Bethlehem.
On the obverse of these 2017 2 oz The Wise Men Biblical Series Silver Coins is the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is captured on this coin in the third-generation effigy created in 1984 by Raphael Maklouf.
