1988 P Jefferson Nickel Struck 30% Off Center Mint Error UNC Details Reverse Scratched NGC
Mint Errors are a way to add a unique coin to your collection. This coin features an Off Center Error, and this happens when a blank which is supposed to be fed into the press, lands in the collar improperly. When this occurs only part of the blank is between the upper and lower dies. When the dies strike the blank, only that part will be struck with a design. The coin gives a freakish appearance as a result, and various amounts of blank planchet space are visible. The coins can vary in value because of how far off center they are struck, although coins with full dates are more desirable than coins without a date or missing digits.
