The Battle of Gettysburg, the Union victory in the summer of 1863 that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North, was a turning point in the Civil War. The obverse side of the coin shows George Washington as he appeared on the 1938 quarter. Each one of these coins is produced with 5 oz of pure .999 silver.
